Science...The Best Bits
Science...The Best Bits
I perform science shows for primary schools and audiences
Science…The Best Bits is one of my favorite science shows, crafted and honed it hits the spot : it is a greatest hits of Science that covers many a fun thing and gets many a laugh as well. This science show is the real thing. From Galileo dropping things, to rocks from space and singing dinosaurs by way of plants that kill and much more. Demonstrations to catch the attention, pictures to transport the mind and specimens to catch the imagination. A talk for all ages but well suited to Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 that tries to show the breadth, width and fun of Science.
Still want a bit more detail?
The science show starts with some discussion on “what is is Science”; and then follows with a demonstration of gravity. There is next material on electricity with some of my best static electricity tricks and favorite machines. Meteors and shooting stars, the movement of the Earth, the sun, some other planets, satellite pictures and where we are. Back to Earth and what couple be more earthy than plants, what they do and then into animals and to finish the confection a few delicious facts about every bodies favorite monsters, dinosaurs.
All in about an hour.
Honest and they will sit so well, you’ll be surprised but happy.

The Day
Many schools then get me to spend time in classes answering any questions pupils
and teachers have in their minds and showing them other specimens, demos and telling stories of some of the great Scientists, Darwin, Faraday, Einstein and the like.
These sessions tend to last for around 20 minutes for KS1 and half an hour for KS2. And I can tailor to your topics if you like, it all depends what you want
and what you want to cover. One thing is for certain, this school science
show will catch the imagination and give it a good shake and leave lots of info to chew on.
As ever there will be specimens and inspiring pictures galore.
It is good for revision,
dealing with a forces, electricity, space, aspects of the natural world and all sorts.
This science show runs for about and hour, needs and hour to set up and ten minutes or so to reset. Apart from a data projector and a couple of tables there is little else needed. Well, an audience would be nice!
Entertainment, Inspiration and a jolly good laugh.
